Have you ever experienced something so amazing, so incredible that when it was over immense amount of sadness ensued? I thought I experienced that during the summer of 2009 when I was in Hawaii, but after visiting New York with my classmates this past week, my mind has officially been changed. I went on this trip thinking "I've been to New York 3 times already, how much more can I experience?" Well it's official, I had more fun than I ever thought and I do believe it is the people I went with that really made the experience that much better. There were some unexpected people that I became very close with in a matter of hours and I'm not convinced that I would have ever talked to them if it weren't for this incredible trip. There wasn't a minute that passed that I wasn't keeled over laughing uncontrollably due to a joke or a comment made by one of my friends. Some if the things we did I had already seen, however being there with the people you love truly makes the trip 70 times better.
We saw things like the Empire State Building, Lincon Center, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 5th avenue, Central Park, Times Square and 3 Broadway plays including Mary Poppins, Phantom of the Opera, and Sister Act.
I became really good friends with a lot of the younger kids whom I had honestly not said a word to at school. The younger kids really have a great sense of humor and a way about life that is so carefree. One of the most unexpected people I became so close with in honestly a matter of hours is a boy in the 11th grade. We have a friend in common and I had driven him home once before this trip but I really didn't know anything about him. I quickly came to realize that we are so similar and seem to laugh at the same stupid stuff. He has a wicked sense of humor and is such a gentleman, which is something I am not exactly used to. He is super shy, but once you break down that barrier and let him get to know you he is such a blast. We exchanged numbers and I hope we continue to talk, which I don't think will be overly difficult seeing as we have about a milli inside jokes and we are Officer Nasty and Detective Deepthroat.
A part of our trip in which I will never forget is our security guard. We had a security guard sitting outside our door to ensure everyones safety... except he was the funniest most relaxed guy I have ever met. He even helped us coordinate our last night party. Mr. Divine is not someone any of us will forget anytime soon.
I suppose I have rambled for far too long now and I should probably get going on uploading all 500 of the photos I took of everyone.
Love everyone who was on the NYC 2011 trip. It is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
xoxo
